It is fair to say that the world of transportation was defined by port in the 18th century, by railroad in the 19th century, by express way in the 20th century, and in the 21st century, by airport. The means of transportation, though unable to transcend the times, has impacted humanity’s production and life style since ancient times. More so in present days, its power has penetrated deeper in the development of regional economy. As a new type of economy with high added value and high timeliness that can drive the growth of other industries, airport economy attracts high-quality production elements and high-end industries that requires greater integration of industrial chain and value chain. Therefore, its prosperity is of great significance to accelerate the construction of a unified national market, create a new development pattern, and promote industrial upgrading and scientific and technological innovation for overall high-quality development. Experts at the conference said that to achieve high-quality development, airport economy in the new era should come up with new ways to build hubs and platforms, increase new routes and airspace, and attract more enterprises, so that efficient links will be formed, scattered resource gathered, and bottleneck constraints broken.
This conference is the 12th session of the 2022 Annual Academic Conference, sponsored by Guangdong Social Sciences Association, and organized by South China Business College, Guangdong Provincial Social Science Research Base --the Collaborative Innovation Center for Airport Economy, and the Federation of Social Science of South China Business College.
