SCBC to establish 10 provincial bases for social sciences popularization
Recently, SCBC has made another step forward in the construction of platforms for scientific research. According to the announcement from Guangdong Social Sciences Association, SCBC has ten proposals to establish provincial bases for social sciences popularization approved by the Association, of which two will be built into “standard base”, one into “growth base”, and seven into “incubation base”. The total number of approved proposals ranks second among all the 186 applying organizations in the province and first among private institutions.
In recent years, under the leadership of Guangdong Social Sciences Association and other higher authorities, SCBC has adhered to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and followed up on the gist of the 19th CPC National Congress and the Plenary Sessions. It has also implemented the guidelines that General Secretary Xi Jinping made in a series of important speeches and instructions during his visit to Guangdong. With the support from other organizations in the social sciences circle in Guangdong and abiding by the Regulations on the Popularization of Social Sciences in Guangdong Province, SCBC has organized a range of activities to popularize social sciences and had a series of social sciences popularization works of great influence published in recent years. The approval of popularization bases is another milestone in its effort to popularize social sciences after the honor of “Excellent Work for Popularization of Social Sciences in Guangdong Province” in the first half of the year.
Wu Zhuozhao honored as “Star of Self-improvement of Chinese College Students” of 2021
According to the results of the 2021 “Star of Self-improvement of Chinese College Students” announced recently, Wu Zhuozhao, a senior student of Taxation major, stood out and earned this honor after several rounds of appraisal up to the national level. The event was jointly organized by China Youth Daily and other organizations under the guidance of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the All-China Students’ Federation.
Wu Zhuozhao, a member of the Communist Party of China, is currently a member of the Presidium of the Student Union of SCBC. He joined the army in September 2017 and retired in 2019. During his service, he was honored as Excellent Compulsory Serviceman of the People's Liberation Army”. In college, he served as department head of the Guangdong Students’ Federation, assistant of the CPC branch of the School of Economics, and instructor of the National Flag Guard. He took part in a national project of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for College Students(Scaling “Pandeng” Project) and a provincial project funded by Guangdong’s Special Fund for Scientific and Technological Innovation Strategy. He received a Honorable Mention with his work in the provincial selection of Excellent Ideological and Political Work Cases, a Second Prize with his report in the social investigation practice as one of 2021 serial activities for higher education institutions in Guangdong that encourage students to “Aim High, Work Hard, and Serve the Country”, and a Honorable Mention with his work on the themed educational activity of “Learning to Build Beautiful Countryside with Insights from Modern History of China”.
As a student cadre, Wu Zhuozhao always keeps in mind the spirit of “serving students wholeheartedly”. When he worked as Head of the Department of Organization Development of Guangdong Students’ Federation, he was in charge of general affairs of the Department; in particular, he coordinated and co-organized the 12th Congress of Guangdong Students’ Federation and other important events for college students in Guangdong. As a member of the Presidium of the SCBC’s Student Union, he worked his best to bring benefits to both SCBC and students. He organized large-scale activities such as “Student of the Year” and “Excellent Grass-roots Student Union”. Thanks to his good work as a leader, SCBC’s Student Union was honored as “Excellent Student Union of Guangdong Province and “Excellent Proposal at the 12th Congress of Guangdong Students’ Federation”.
