SCBC students win accolades in China-Russia Collegiate Russian Language Contest
On June 23, the 5th “Harbin Russian Spring” China-Russia Collegiate Russian Language Contest held online came to a close. The contest was organized by the Department of Education of Heilongjiang Province and the Department of Education and Science of the Amur Region of Russia. More than 200 students from 75 schools from China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in the contest. After fierce competition, 9 students from the Department of Russian Language and Culture of the School of European Languages and Cultures received a first prize in Russian poetry recitation, a second prize in Russian drama, a second prize in Russian dancing and a third prize in Russian singing.
Specifically, Wu Haotian claimed a first prize in Russian poetry recitation, thanks to his solid language skills, rich intonation and emotional expressions shown in his performance of Lermontov's poem Motherland; Su Jiacheng, Liang Boying and Su Wanming won a second prize in Russian drama by their presentation of “The Painters” that impressed all the judges with well-designed costumes, splendid stage settings, and exquisite intonation and body language in characterization; Tan Ke'er, Zhang Jing Yuhang and Liu Jieyi co-choreographed a Russian dance piece Folk Dance Kalinka Skewer Modern Dance Marin Berry, with a combination of ancient and modern ideas in their creative and characteristic stage performance that won over the heart of the judges and got a second prize in the Russian dancing; Fang Zhuochun, Su Wanming and Zhou Yiying, who presented most skillfully a Russian classic song “Alexandra” in such a style that both the Chinese and foreign judges applauded their performance, received a third prize in Russian singing.
