Professor Li Aiwen’s research findings published in Jingji Yaocan
Recently, Professor Li Aiwen’s article entitled “Building a Digital Greater Bay Area by Drawing on the Experience of Tokyo Bay Area” has been published on Jingji Yaocan (Key Economic Information for Reference) (No. 5, 2022)under the State Council Development Research Center. The article is a milestone result of the sub-project “Database of Measures for the Long-term Development of China and Japan” of the National Social Science Foundation funded project “Strengthening the Dual Circulation of Bay Areas in China and Japan for the Long-term Development of Both Countries” (Grant No. 20VGQ005) led by Professor Li Aiwen from the School of Asian Languages and Cultures.
The article introduces the experience of digitization in the Tokyo Bay Area, analyzes the main problems of building big data center in the Bay Area, and puts forward four suggestions for the development of digital Greater Bay Area: First, we should enhance multi-sector collaboration and integrate the construction of data centers in the development of Greater Bay Area; Second, we should strengthen the collaboration between “government, industry, academia, research, capital and media” to build a collaborative innovation platform pivoted around big data centers; Third, we should strengthen the “dual circulation” collaboration and build a comprehensive system for cross-border data flow management and coordination; Fourth, we should learn from Japan's experience in cutting information barriers and crack the problem of “information silos” in the Greater Bay Area. The above suggestions provide important references to address the three major issues of “data integration, homogeneity of competition and collaborative innovation” in the Greater Bay Area.
