Recently, good news has come from from the Department of Education of Guangdong province that two research applications from SCBC have been granted. The two applications, the “Research Center for Multilingual Translation and Interpretation of Chinese Culture” in the category of key scientific research platforms and the “Research Team of Exhibition Industry Integration and Innovation Development” in the category of innovation groups, have made a breakthrough in SCBC’s effort to improve its academic strength in these two categories. In addition, Prof. Xie Shaobin’s project, “RISC_V-based Security Gateway for Smart Home Internet of Things System”, has also been approved as one of the special projects in key areas (Digital Economy).
The Research Center for Multilingual Translation and Interpretation of Chinese Culture, led by Prof. Wen Binli, has drawn on the academic resources from the Institute of English-Chinese Translation, the Institute of Chinese Character and Culture in Asia, and the Institute of Chinese-European Cultural Exchanges, and the support from a number of college-level research teams and projects with strong teamwork spirit and fruitful research results. Therefore, it has been a show case for the disciplinary advantages of SCBC’s multiple foreign language and literature programs, including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Arabic, Korean and Thai. This research center will be dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and Lingnan local culture in foreign countries through translation, with the hope of contributing to “the communication of the China story” and “spreading China’s voice”. Headed by Prof. Li Tiecheng, the Research Team of Exhibition Industry Integration and Innovation Development is based on the achievements of the second batch of scientific research and innovation teams accepted and recognized by the College. The effort will focus on the integration and innovation of modern exhibition industry, with an aim to build itself into a collaborative innovation research team that serves the development of modern service industry in Guangdong province. The team is set to make use of relevant resources to create an integrated innovation model that takes advantage of the strength of industry, region, and technology, and highlights the collaboration between university, industry association, and enterprise.
