SCBC’s Accounting listed into national first-class undergraduate programs
Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education has released the list of national and provincial first-class undergraduate programs in 2020. SCBC’s Accounting has been seen on the national list and its International Economics and Trade on the provincial list.
SCBC’s Accounting Program started in 2006 and was open to freshmen in the same fall. The Program is designed to cultivate practice-oriented, innovative, and versatile professionals with international vision who are knowledgeable and competent in accounting to meet the needs of modern market economy. Based in the Pearl River Delta, it looks to serve the economic development of Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
After more than a decade of painstaking efforts in reforming and improving itself, the Program has boasted distinctive disciplinary features and advantages. In 2013, it was approved as a pilot project of comprehensive disciplinary reform in Guangdong Province. In 2018, it was selected by SCBC as one of the programs to be “built into postgraduate programs”. In 2020, Accounting Informatization Teaching Team was recognized as one of the provincial demonstrative teaching teams.
Having a team of high-level teaching team is the key to building a first-class program. In the past four years, the Program has attracted and trained quite a few high-level personnel for its team, including 7 PhDs, 6 associate professors and 3 visiting scholars from domestic institutions. At present, there are 22 full-time teachers, of whom 6 are professors, 6 associate professors, 5 PhDs and 1 doctoral candidate. Among them, Prof. Wang Hua, also executive president of SCBC, was commended as Outstanding Teacher by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. Prof. Du Yong, head of the Acounting Pogram, PhD supervisor, and postdoctoral fellow of Peking University, is an external reviewer of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; an expert member of the Doctoral/Master's degree Thesis Review Committee of the Ministry of Education; director, academic member and expert member of the Management Accounting of the Chinese Society of Business Economics; a director of the Chinese Society of Foreign Economic and Trade Accounting. Professors Wang Hua, Ren Daowen and Zhou Ling were commended as National Outstanding Teachers, and Associate Profession Wen Youyun as Outstanding Teacher of Private Education in Guangdong Province.
Introduction to the leading figure: Prof. Wang Hua
Wang Hua, Han nationality, PhD of Management, National Second-level Professor in Accounting, PhD Supervisor at Jinan University, and a national expert enjoying the State Council special allowance. He used to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the CPC committee and the President of Guangdong University of Finance, and than as the Deputy Secretary of the CPC committee and the President of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. He was commended as “Outstanding Teacher of Guangdong” and “Outstanding Teacher” by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. Wang’s field of studies includes capital market and international harmonization of accounting standards, human resources accounting and corporate performance appraisal.
Part-time positions: Wang used to be director in charge of the accounting education affairs for the Accounting Society of China (formerly the Chinese Accounting Professors Association), vice chairman of the Higher Financial & Economic Education of China Higher Education Association, vice president of China Commercial Accounting Institute, adjunct vice chairman of Guangdong Social Science Association, member of the fifth and sixth Academic Degrees Committees of Guangdong Province and the corresponding evaluation panels. Currently, he serves as member of the standing council of the Accounting Society of China and deputy director of the Society’s Accounting education committee, member of expert pool for the evaluation panel of undergraduate education under the Ministry of Education, member of CGMA 100, special-term director of the expert committee for Accounting Education, and honorary president of Guangdong Association of Management Accountants.
