SCBC Swimmers win Golds and Silvers at Guangdong Collegiate Swimming Championship

 

  11 SCBC swimmers have won 12 medals or up-front rankings as they strove tenaciously to be first with any event in the “Hao Sha Cup” Guangdong Collegiate Swimming Championship & the Qualification for the 10th Provincial Collegiate Sports Meet Swimming Tournament held at the swimming stadium of South China Normal University in the Guangzhou college town from April 12 to 14. Over 400 male and female athletes from 22 colleges and universities in the province fell into the four categories of A, B1, B2, and C to compete respectively in 16, 19, 19, and 16  individual and team events such as freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, relay, and so on.
 
 
  SCBC swimmers have been strong contenders for medals in Category A competitions. In individual events, Han Kaiyun championed in both the 50-meter and 100-meter backstrokes for women; Yu Chaozhi claimed a silver in the 50-meter backstroke and a bronze in the 50-meter freestyle for men; and Wang Weixin won a bronze in the 50-meter breaststroke and a fourth place in the 50-meter backstroke for women. Other good news included a fifth place in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke by Huang Ying, a sixth in the women’s 50-meter butterfly by Wu Xiaoyin, and an eighth in the men’s 50-meter breaststroke by Wang Qianhan.
 
  In team events, the SCBC swimming team reaped a silver medal in the 4x50-meter freestyle mixed relay by Wang Weixin, Han Kaiyun, Wang Qianhan, and Yu Chaozhi, a bronze medal in the 4x50-meter medley mixed relay by Wang Weixin, Han Kaiyun, Yu Chaozhi, and Zhang Dunliang, and a seventh place in the men’s 4x50-meter freestyle relay by Guo Wei, Wang Qianhan, Zhang Dunliang, and Cui Chuixi.
 
  Coach Peng Zehua of attributed the excellent performance to the strong support from the college and the unremitting efforts of all swimmers in his team. In the competition, every stroke and every kick they made in the water was a real challenge to their limits of strength, but they still presented to the audience a marvelous feast of competitive swimming, which was a showcase for the great tenacity and rich sporting spirit of students at South China Business College.
