A Grand Ceremony Held for the Appointment of Newly Hired Experts
A grand ceremony was held at C201 on the afternoon of October 18 to applaud the appointment of the newly hired experts at South China Business College. The ceremony was hosted by Vice President He Aibing and attended by the leadership, heads of schools and departments, and the faculty of SCBC.
Vice President Wang Xinjie, also deputy director and member of SCBC’s Academic Titles Appraisal Committee, announced the names of 20 newly certified associate professors in the ceremony. Executive Vice President Lai Zhili, also director of SCBC’s Committee for the Appointment of Professional and Technical Personnel, read out several announcements regarding the appointments of nine professors, 28 associate professors, one associate research fellow, and three high-level professionals to the corresponding positions at SCBC.
As solemn and passionate tunes rang in the hall, the newly certified associate professors and the newly hired experts went to the stage and received their certificates and letters of appointment from the SCBC leadership.
This was the first time that SCBC had conducted academic titles appraisal. SCBC had followed strictly the standard procedures in the whole process, which went through 11 steps: the issuance of notification, individual application, candidate’s qualification examined by the HR, public notice before appraisal, candidate’s qualification re-examined, candidate’s key works examined by full professors or equivalents from other higher institutions, appraisal by experts of the same academic discipline, final examination by the Committee, public notice after appraisal, registration in related government departments, and the issuance of certificates. The average age of the 20 newly certified associate professors is 39 years, with the youngest being only 32.
