SCBC to Offer Five More Undergraduate Degree Programs

 

     Five undergraduate degree programs that South China Business College(SCBC) applied to open have been approved and will begin to recruit students in September 2018, according to the 2017 list of newly-added undergraduate majors for higher institutions recently released by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Together with these five new programs, including Thai Language, Financial Engineering, Business Economics, Network Engineering, and Pre-school Education, SCBC now offers a total of 38 undergraduate majors, 12 of which are foreign-language related and available in 10 foreign languages.
 
     The approval has opened doors for SCBC to better pedagogical resources and more opportunities for future development. With Pre-school Education program set in place, SCBC has moved one step further in optimizing its disciplinary structure and now it confers degrees in five academic disciplines of Arts, Economics, Management, Engineering, and Education
 
     The college will continue its effort to ensure the quality of education through carefully orchestrating and upgrading its undergraduate degree programs according to the demand of society, industries and enterprises as well as the yearly recruitment and graduate employment rate.
 
 
MBA Serial Lectures Kick off at SCBC
 
     On the afternoon of March 19, Dr. Xiong Wei, associate professor from the Department of Marketing in the School of Business at the University of International Business and Economics, gave a lecture on Marketing Management, opening the first window to MBA learning for the faculty and students of Grade 2015 from the School of International Economics and Finance and the School of International Business and Management. Chairman of SCBC Ding Xiaojun was present on the occasion which was hosted by Professor He Aibing, vice president of SCBC.
 
 
     Dr. Xiong’s explained to the audience “Client-oriented Marketing” in his bilingual lecture, elaborating on the concepts with charts, pictures and examples.
 
 
     It is said that SCBC has plans to popularize basic MBA knowledge to juniors of business-related majors. This move, as a response to the changing demand of social and economic development, is in alignment with SCBC’s goal of training down-to-earth, versatile and practice-oriented talents who are competent for jobs in high-level management in companies, enterprises, and government economic departments. It is expected that the MBA serial lectures help broaden students’ horizon, improve their knowledge and critical thinking ability, and inspire them to innovate and build their own business following the rules of modern business  management. The college will arrange six MBA lectures this semester, inviting experienced MBA professors from all over the country. These lectures are specifically designed to empower students with operational skills and competitiveness through business case analysis, simulations, decision-making training on the basis of modern management theories and techniques.
 
 
     Beginning from next semester, the college will allow the School of International Business and Management to set up pilot MBA courses in which the MBA’s problem-driven model of instruction will be widely adopted, while students from other schools will also benefit from this model of learning by attending MBA serial lectures.
