On December 6, a delegation led by Dr. Melanie Moll from the University of Munich(LMU) visited South China Business College and was received by Executive Vice President Lai Zhili at Room 309 of the Administration Building.
Mr. Lai started with an introduction to South China Business College. At present, there are many German language learners at SCBC, with 8 classes of students from freshman to senior majoring German Language and many other taking German language as their second foreign language or as their minors. With a focus on international exchange and cooperation, SCBC has already established partnerships with four institutions of higher learning and is sending a large number of students to study or exchange overseas every year.
According to Dr. Melanie Moll, the University of Munich is one of the 11 prestigious universities, offering a wide range of degree programs, with 190 subjects available in numerous combinations. Currently there are 7000 international students of which Chinese students rank the second in terms of population. To help foreigners study the German language, the University set up a department responsible for teaching German to speakers of other languages in 1952. Thanks to the University’s perfect management system, international students are able to receive high quality education in a relatively short period of time and their ECTS credits are recognized by universities within the European Union. Dr. Melanie Moll said that as one of the organizers of the German Language University Entrance Examination for Foreign Applicants (DSH), the University of Munich attached great importance to German language training and was keen to cooperate with more higher institutions in other countries. She hoped that the the University of Munich and South China Business College could establish a friendly, longtime partnership.
The two sides signed a framework agreement of cooperation after a detailed discussion on related issues regarding SCBC sending students to study in the University of Munich. Then they exchanged gifts and had a group photo taken in memory of the cooperation.
On the Evening that day, Dr. Melanie Moll and the delegation presented LMU’s international student programs to SCBC students at Classroom G205. After the presentation, they enjoyed a wonderful time with SCBC teachers and students at the Fifth Christmas Party of the School of European Languages and Cultures held by the SCBC German Language Society.
Dr. Melanie Moll had brought some Bavarian style cookies with her to share with teachers and students present at the party. Then came the most exciting moment of the evening when the guests joint with students playing interesting games of guessing and parroting German words and sentences. Students had shown their enthusiasm for the language by interacting with foreign teachers and the visiting guests. At the end of the party, they sang joyfully several German Christmas songs together.
