Team of SCBC Achieving Success at Sino-Russia College Students Russian Contest of “Spring of Russian in Harbin”

 

  The team of SCBC recently won the 3rd prize award for the drama contest unit and the best popularity award at the conclusion of the first Sino-Russia College students Russian Contest of “the Spring of Russian in Harbin”.
 
  Co-sponsored by Russian Teaching & Research Association of China, National Normal University of Blagovichchensk and Harbin University of Technology, the contest was participated in by nearly 100 students from 21 colleges and universities in China and overseas such as Beijing Normal University, Heilongjiang University, SCBC and National Normal University of Blagovichchensk, Russia.
 
 
  The contest lasted two days when four contest-units were staged such as recitations in Russian, Russian songs, Russian drama and Russian dance.
 
 
  Headed by a leading Russian teacher and Yu Fengying, a teacher of Russian, the team of SCBC, consisting of Jiang Aiqi, Ou Mengzhou, Lin Wenda and Mai Sudan, students from the Russian major of Grade 2014 and Li Jiayu, a student from the same major of Grade 2015, competed in the three contesting units of recitations, songs and drama. Students from SCBC were able to secure a 3rd prize award for the drama contest of the adapted modern drama from Twelve Chairs, one of the renowned classics of Russian literature, by first staging Can I Love You, a poem recital, and ending their performance with On the Way to the Battlefield, a military song in the songs contest. Meanwhile the team of SCBC was able to win the best popularity award at the event with the students’ vim and vigor, lively performance, standard pronunciation in Russian and amazingly good comprehensive qualities.
 
 
  SCBC was reportedly said to be not only the unique independent college but also one with the most recently launched Russian program of all the participating colleges and universities. Prof. Wang Xinjie, Vice President and Dean of the School of Western Languages & Cultures of SCBC, was quoted as saying that the success achieved by the school team at the event mirrors the signature features of SCBC’s “Excelling in Foreign Languages and Focusing on Practice”.
