International Students at SCBC Experiencing Chinese Culture On and Off Campus
SCBC made available in this semester a series of programs to experience the Chinese culture to 17 international students from Korea and 1 from Mexico in an attempt to prompt their perception and understanding of the culture of the host country.
Their active involvement in the process was able to make them aware of the essence of the traditionally agricultural education where people used to get educated over farm work by the students’ appreciating exquisite craftsmanship of porcelain and jade products and the beauty of Chinese poetry, and by learning how to play table tennis, a national ball game of China. All the international students have been greatly awed by the splendidly colorful traditional Chinese culture, which, according to them, is like having been to a superb quartet of the Chinese culture with music lingering in their minds long after the curtain comes down.
