2016 Freshmen School Opening Ceremony: President Expresses High Expectation with "Catchy Words"
In the refreshing autumn air of golden September, 2016 Freshmen School Opening Ceremony was held in the Cultural Square on the morning of September 11, which officially started the first lesson for the SCBC new students.
At the beginning of the ceremony, President Chen Linhan delivered a speech. On behalf of all the faculty, staff and students of SCBC, he warmly welcomed the arrival of the new students and sincerely wished the freshmen to have a wonderful time in the beautiful SCBC campus. Chen said "the university is a new stage of student life, but also a new starting point of life journey as a whole. SCBC is large enough to see how much you can dream". He encouraged the new generation of SCBC-ers to strive through the gate of time to establish their perfect "self" for the future. He continued with three messages: first, catch the youth time and master skills, don't be bow-to-phone addicts, do "look up the road while buried in learning"; second, be bold to dream, dare to take more responsibilities for the nation, for the community, for the family, and for parents, never fear of difficulties but overcome hardships in order to achieve their ideal of life; third, alluding to the message in the story of "Three Masons", he encouraged new students to hold a lofty aspiration in down-to-earth spirit, to try hard in the commonplace work and daily learning to find their values and significance, and to complete each goal step by step.
Chen Linhan also hopes that new students hold mastership together with all the SCBC-ers toward the construction of a high quality independent college, start their new time of college life with the "primitive almighty power" , keep their initial goals, and bravely fulfill their dreams.
