Representatives Visit SCBC from Australia's University of Western Sydney
On the morning of June 6th, Peter Hutching, a professor from the University of Western Sydney (UWS), along with Sylvia Xu, a UWS liaison for international schools, visited SCBC. Xinjie Wang, the vice president of SCBC, hosted the guests in Room 309 of the administration building. The two parties discussed the initiation of a "2+2" dual-credit articulation agreement between the two institutions for the Master's degree program for language majors specializing in translation studies.
Peter Hutching explains, the University of Western Sydney, founded in 1989, is a public, comprehensive university located in Australia's New South Wales province with a renowned program of translation studies, especially in the translation of Chinese-English/English-Chinese languages. Professor Hutching goes further to say, UWS is willing to collaborate with SCBC in training Master's students who will specialize in translation by permitting college seniors during their final semester to take four pre-requisite courses, including Techniques of Translation and Cross-cultural Communication, at UWS. The students' tuition will be partially waived.
Hutching, Xu, and Wang continued in more detailed discussion of the articulation agreement, and the two schools expressed mutual interest in collaborating in the Business field of studies.
At the close of the meeting, the representatives of the two schools exchanged gifts and had photos taken.
