Lecture on Economy of Globalization Era
 
  Dr. Jakobson Leif and Dr. Kalev Mari-liis, the couple from the University of Tallinn, Estonia lectured on the economy of globalization era on the afternoon of April 7.
 
 
  Mari started her lecture by greeting the students friendly in Estonian language and then briefed them on Estonia. She introduced that Estonia, located in Eastern Europe, people there speak both Estonian and English. As is highly globalized, the country has 20% to 30% of international students, who are from more than 40 countries and regions, such as UK, Germany, Spain and many others.
 
 
  From the point of view of economic development, Mari explained the problem of globalization. She said that in the trend of globalization, developed countries gained their economic advantage due to the completion of capital accumulation in advance, while developing countries with weaker economic foundation can also gradually improve the economic strength in the process of globalization by virtue of their own advantages in providing inexpensive export commodities.
 
 
  Leif, afterword, from the geographical, social, economic, political, cultural and other perspectives, analyzed propulsion factors in the development of globalization, and by viewing from science and technology as the breakthrough point, discussed emphatically about scientific and technological progress as the positive impact on globalization. He also suggested that globalization brings positive significance.  However, it exerts a negative impact as regard to environmental pollution, market vicious competition, financial bubbles and other crises. Therefore, in his opinion, we should treat the problem of globalization with dialectical thinking.
The lecture was given in English in view of the foreign language features of SCBC, aiming at improving the students' English listening and speaking skills, at the same time, spreading the knowledge of economy and culture in the globalization era so as to inspire students' theoretical thinking.
 
 
Representatives of Swansea University, UK Swansea University Visit SCBC
 
  A delegation from the Swansea University, UK, headed by Jones Susan, assistant director of East Asia Regional Manager, visited SCBC on the afternoon of April 11. Yang Jianjun, director of the Center for International Exchange and cooperation, received the guests in Room 304 of administration building.
 
 
  At the meeting, Jianjun Yang, the SCBC director of the Center for International Cooperation and Exchange, briefed the guests on SCBC. He said, SCBC applies the educational model to training talents of solid academic foundations, perfect professional skills, strong foreign language proficiency and application orientation. With its distinctive strength in foreign language studies, it currently offers 11 foreign language majors, topping all other independent colleges in Guangdong. SCBC has been promoting the merge of "Foreign language + Specialty" and "Specialty + Foreign language", currently four non-foreign language majors are immersed into bilingual teaching model and in such three majors as accounting, international business and finance have offered the "2 + 2" Chinese and foreign credit-hour recognition programs.
 
  Susan said that this visit was mainly intended to discuss two cooperation projects with SCBC -- a "3 + 1 + 1" baccalaureate-master accelerated degree project and a "2 + 2" mutual credit hour recognition project. She said that the Swansea University would provide students with outstanding achievements with annual scholarships of about 1000 pounds.
 
  Afterwards, the two sides exchanged ideas and discussed the cooperation projects in further detail.
 
 
Two SCBC Teachers Win Outstanding Achievement Awards
In the 8th Research Project of China Exhibition Economy
 
  Multiple prizes have been awarded to Yuming Zhang, dean of the School of International Business Management and Tiecheng Li, director of the Department of Exhibition Economy at "The 2016 Annual Conference of China Association of Exhibition Economy and China (Zhuhai) Forum of Exhibition Economy" held April 9 to 11. Tiecheng Li and Yuming Zhang respectively won the first prize and the second prize of Outstanding Achievement Award in the 8th Research Project of China Exhibition Economy, and Yuming zhang was awarded the second prize of "2015 Outstanding Figures Award (undergraduate) of China Exhibition Industry".
 
 
  The China Exhibition Economic Research Award for Outstanding Achievements is the highest merit of academics and professionals in this field nation-wide. The award-winning items will be selected by the China Research Committee of Exhibition Economy and then be recommended for the Ministry of Commerce to be further evaluated for the "National Business Development Research Award".
