Professors from Tallinn University of Estonia Arrive for Academic Exchange
Leif Kalev and Mari-Liis Jakobson, professors of Tallin University in Estonia arrived on the morning of March 21st at SCBC for academic exchange. Executive Vice President, Zhili Lai, received the guests in Room 405 of the Administration Building.
Zhili Lai briefed the Estonian professors on SCBC. Lai said, SCBC, located in Guangzhou, a hub city thriving in an internationally oriented economy, is committed to the cultivations of application-oriented and creative talents, emphasizing in international exchange and cooperation, and carrying out a variety of exchanges with foreign universities. SCBC encourages its faculty and students to study abroad, in which about 400 individuals study in foreign countries each year. Lai hopes for the two professors to get to know Chinese culture while in Guangzhou, and build a friendship with SCBC faculty and students.
Leif Kalev and Mari-Liis Jakobson then gave a presentation on Tallinn University (TU). TU has a student body of 8000, among whom about 200 study abroad each year. They have the choice of whether or not to study abroad.
It is known that Leif Kalev and Mari-Liis Jakobson, a married couple with doctoral degrees, are fellows of Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) and will stay on the SCBC campus for a month during which they will give two lectures on "Globalization Theories" and research for their papers in regard to such topics as immigration policies, globalization, public relations, and international relations.
