Representatives of University of Canberra, Australia Visit SCBC
Representatives from the University of Canberra (UC), Australia, Ms. Catherine Chi, the Asian Regional Manager and Ms. Emily Gan, the China area manager, visited SCBC on March 10th. Zhili Lai, the executive vice president of SCBC, received visitors in VIP Lounge of the administration building.
Catherine Chi first briefed the school profile of UC. The university, located in Canberra, the capital of Australia, is a comprehensive university. As 82% of residents in Canberra use English to communicate, the campus offers a good English learning environment. Catherine Chi also introduced the "3+1" articulation agreements between UC and Chinese universities. This kind of program recognizes credit hours between UC and Chinese universities, based on which students in the program can receive diplomas and, at the same time, be provided a platform to advance professional developments.
Zhili Lai then introduced the basic situation of SCBC. SCBC is distinctive in its strength in foreign language studies. It currently offers 11 foreign language majors in nine foreign languages, among which the English language encompasses three concentrations: English Language, Business English and Translation Studies, enrolling the largest number of foreign language students. In such majors as Accounting, International Business Management and Finance, SCBC offers programs in 2+2 articulation agreement with foreign universities. By means of academic visits abroad, exchange studies and mutual recognition of credit hours, SCBC provides a variety of channels for students to study abroad. About 400 students, the number of 15% of its freshmen class enrollment this year, can be sent abroad through these channels each year.
Afterward, both sides exchanged ideas and discussed the collaboration in further detail.
