Australia Murdoch University Representatives Visit SCBC
On the morning of Dec. 21, the Australian Murdoch University (MU) representatives visited SCBC. Executive Vice President Lai Zhili, Vice President Wang Xinjie and staff met with the guest in the VIP lounge.
Mr. Maple Fu, China District Manager of MU first introduced the basic situation of the school. It is understood that the Murdoch University is a research university and a member of the Australian Federation of Innovation Research. MU currently is consisted of Business School, College of Engineering, Law School, College of Liberal Arts, with the College of Engineering as the largest in its scale and number of current students. This college opens many new specialties. Take IT undergraduate majors as example: it encompasses the computer game technology, mobile phone APP development, game software design and production, etc.
It is reported that the MU undergraduate level students primarily learn basic courses in the first year, and start to learn courses of their majors in the sophomore year. MU encourages students to select dual-specialty courses, even across colleges. Maple said that the Australian government was vigorously supporting the development of computer science and technology, and students in this area could have very optimistic employment chances in the future. She was eagerly looking forward to the cooperation with SCBC and working together in the training of computer professionals.
Lai Zhili then briefed the profile of SCBC to MU guests. Lai Zhili said, the most prominent advantage for SCBC to cooperate with institutions abroad is its talents of foreign languages, due to its adherence to the "Specialty + Foreign language" teaching model. He also briefly introduced the basic situation of the computer science specialties at SCBC. At present, computer science specialties at SCBC has about 400 enrollments, which are running well, mainly because of graduates' good prospects and high salary in the future careers.
MU visitors to SCBC this time mainly aimed to discuss the "Chinese-foreign joint education" project in computer science major, commonly known as the "3 + 1" joint training project. Lai Zhili said: "the opening policy is a win-win choice for cooperating universities, thus I hope Murdoch University and SCBC can cooperate with an open mind for joint training of talents."
Then, the two sides discussed, negotiated and exchanged ideas specifically on the details of the cooperation project.
