Representatives of three universities from Canada visit SCBC
Representatives of three universities from Canada -- King's College of Dalhousie University, Brock University and the University of Windsor -- visited our school. Lai Zhili, executive vice president of SCBC, received the guests in the VIP room on the afternoon of Nov. 5.
Lai Zhili first welcomed the arrival of representatives of the college and universities and then he introduced the basic situation of our school. SCBC opens 26 undergraduate specialties within four disciplines, mainly in Humanities, economics and management science. As a college featuring its strength in instruction of foreign languages, SCBC attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, our college has already established cooperative relationship with 70 colleges and universities from 15 countries and regions, the cooperation include the "3 + 1" and "2 + 2" projects of the reciprocal acknowledgement of course credits, cooperative model of Bachelors to Masters and other programs.
Visitors also introduced their school profiles, including the location, teachers and students, admission requirements and pedagogical characteristics, etc. Kim Kierans, Vice President of King's college Dalhousie, taking journalism major as an example, presented the progress of the "3 + 1 + 1" project. Narongsak (Tek) Thongpapanl, Director of the Marketing Department, School of Business, Brock University, introduced a variety of exchange programs in accounting. He said: "Brock University is an applied university, the school not only provides learning opportunities, but also provides opportunities for internship. At the same time, Brock University welcomes visiting scholars to do research."
At the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged in the details about cooperation.

SCBC Establishes Cooperative Relations with Chosun University of South Korea
A delegation of Chosun University of South Korea, headed by President Seo The-hung, visited SCBC on the afternoon of Nov. 5. Lai Zhili, executive vice president of SCBC, received the guests in the VIP room, where SCBC and Chosun University signed the "academic exchange framework agreement", which has started the official establishment of cooperative relations between the two schools. Others who attended the signing ceremony are Yang Jianjun, Director of the Center for International Exchanges; Qin Mingyuan, Dean of School of Eastern Languages and Cultures; Wu Li and Chi Shengnu, Deputy Deans of School of Eastern Languages and Cultures.
Lai Zhili introduced the basic situation of our school to visitors. SCBC opens 10 foreign language specialties in eight foreign languages. As a college featuring its strength in instruction of foreign languages, SCBC attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, our college has already established cooperative relationship with 70 colleges and universities from 15 countries and regions. Korean language department of SCBC has enrolled over 200 current students, 100% of whom can have the opportunity to study in Korea, which “is good for students to learn about Korean culture and improves their learning efficiency." Lai says that the cooperation between the two schools is conducive to the promotion of development for both. He hopes that Chosun University will work with SCBC to carry out international education and cultural exchanges through substantial cooperation and SCBC will welcome visiting scholars from Chosun University so as to strengthen academic exchanges.
Seo The-hung then introduced the school profile of Chosun University. The university, with its long history and quality instruction, offers a variety of majors encompassing foreign languages, arts and humanities, arts, and education. It is honored to be one of the ten universities in Korea that offer specialties in medicine and dentistry. President Seo says “Academic areas of SCBC and Chosun University are quite similar, which is, therefore, compatible for mutual cooperation.” He also points out that the international cultural exchanges can enhance students' understanding of the culture and promotes the exchange and communication between the two countries, and he agrees with the view in Lai Zhili’s proposal of strengthening exchanges and cooperation. He would like to invite SCBC leaders to visit Chosun University, as next year will be the 70th anniversary of its establishment.
The two sides signed the "Academic Exchange Framework Agreement", exchanged souvenir, and had photos taken.
According to the agreement, the two sides will exchange teachers and students.
