Favouring SCBC's Foreign Language Strength

The Hainan Uni Airways Corporation (HNA) started their recruit of air crews with foreign language skills on SCBC campus on the morning of October 14th. More than 50 students participated in the preliminary test.

Before the test, Shi Hui, manager of HNA human resources administration, told reporters that Hainan Airlines has developed a number of international routes after years of development. Therefore, it is necessary to select employees with foreign language expertise in crew recruitment, and this campus recruitment values the SCBC's feature of foreign language strength, as HNA favors the English, Russian, French, Korean, German talents. This recruitment has no restriction of quota, nor the proportion of men and women. However, the male candidates will have physical tests, because male flight attendants might work as security officers.

Reporters observed only 3 male students came to the scene, while most of the applicants were girls. At the interview students are required not to wear heavy makeup, sticky false eyelashes, beauty pupil contact lenses or stockings, most girls dressed simple, though lightly made up. After measuring body height and weight, applicants were interviewed in ten groups, where the applicants introduced their own professional and foreign language levels afer their standing postures and arms being checked. The interview showed that the majority of candidates have reached the level of College English Test Band 6 or even Test for English Majors Band 4, French majors have reached the level of French Band 4, and Japanese majors achieved the level of the Japanese International Proficiency Test N2.

The recruitment is for juniors and seniors. Once hired students can start their career, while current juniors can be aboard after their graduation. Shi Hui said: "For an ordinary crew member with one year and a half experience, the monthly salary can be over RMB 10,000, for those with foreign language skills, the remuneration is higher, and their profiles will be kept in human resources database as professionals for personnel development."
