Japanese Language Teaching Research Association of
Guangdong Independent Universities Established at SCBC
 
  Japanese Language Teaching Research Association of Guangdong Independent Universities (JLTRA Guangdong Independent Universities) was Established at SCBC on March 28. Prof. Qin Mingwu, Dean of the School of Oriental Languages and Cultures, was elected as its first president.
 
 
  According to the "Chart of the Japanese Language Teaching Research Association of Guangdong Private Universities ", Under the guidance of the Chinese national education administrative institution and South China Branch of National JLTRA, JLTRA of Guangdong Private Universities will carry out teaching and academic activities, summarize and exchange experiences in the areas of pedagogy, Japanese language, literature, culture teaching and other aspects, and enhance teaching of Japanese and the research at private universities in Guangdong, for the purpose of serving the economic and social development in the Pearl River Delta region.
 
 
Professor of University of Fribourg, Switzerland to Lecture at SCBC
 
  Professor Christian Giordano of University of Fribourg, Switzerland visited SCBC. Vice president Wang Xinjie received him in Room 203 of the administration building on March 31.
 
 
  Both introduced the situation of foreign language education at their own schools. Wang Xinjie said that SCBC, known for its strength in foreign language education, is a college currently running 10 foreign language specialties. At the same time, the school has actively carried out international exchanges and cooperation in order to expand students' international vision.
 
 
  During his two-week scholarly visiting, Prof. Giordano will give four lectures at SCBC on the theme of "European Socio-Culture Differences and Intercultural Relations". He expects an active interaction with SCBC students at the lectures.
 
  Prof. Giordano will start his talks about "Cultural Diversity and Pluralism of Culture Differences" from the afternoon on April 1 in Room C205.
 
 
SCBC and Munich University of Applied Languages to Implement Dual Degree Program
 
  President Felix Mayer of Munich University of Applied Languages, Germany and its delegation visited SCBC on the afternoon of March 31, President Xu Zhenhua received the visiting guests in the Guest Lounge of the administration building. The two sides discussed and exchanged ideas in diversified education cooperation projects.
 
  Munich University of Applied Languages is one of the most well-known colleges and universities in the training of translation talents in Europe as well as in Germany. Munich University of Applied Languages and SCBC had already implemented the exchange programs of language students for three years, in which SCBC students, with the A2 Level of German language as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), went to Germany for language classes, and then received the language level certificate of corresponding level through the CEFR Examination.
 
 
  This discussion has decided to start the 2016 Fall enrollment for the dual degree program based on the "2+2.5" bilateral credit hour recognition protocol for the specialties of "Chinese-German Translation" and "Business Communication". Students of these majors will be selected through examination after completing the courses in China and reaching the CEFR B1 Level according to the matched curriculum of this program.
 
  After the discussion, President Felix Mayer and representatives of Munich University of Applied Languages held a talk, introducing the features of education at their university and the current situation relevant to the exchange programs.
