Beauty of SCBC: The Image Ambassadors Trials

 

  The Second SCBC Image Ambassadors Trials were held at the amphitheater in the college business center on the evening of November 25th. The winners of this big contest are to be the college’s image ambassadors to be promoting the campus culture of SCBC. The format for the three rounds of competition is consisted of the Fun Interlocution, the Talent Show and the Workplace Simulation, out of which the final winners will be selected. In the end, Junling Zhang, who ardently competed throughout the contest, won the championship by earning the highest number of audience votes.

 

 

 

 

Strong Demand for Talents of Foreign Language and Trading Skills Attracts State-Level Career Counselors On Spot of SCBC Job Fair
 
  The job fair (Conghua branch) for the college graduates of 2015 class in Guangdong Province was held in SCBC stadium. Nearly 250 enterprises providing more than 6000 jobs attracted about 6000 applicants from colleges and universities around Conghua city.
 
 
  The recruiters from about 250 foreign, local and state-owned businesses, included such well-known enterprises as Baidu, Gome, Guangzhou Rural Commercial Bank, China Merchants Bank, Hopefluent, Debon Logistics, UNIQLO, HSBC Global, etc. The Chamber of Commerce Network of Baoan, Shenzhen organized 30 foreign trade enterprises to participate in the recruitment. According to the school targeted screening, above 60% of positions at this recruitment was classified for the talents of foreign languages and trade skills, this data accounts for a 30%-40% increase compared with the same period last year.
 
 
  Unlike previous years, at the job fair this year there appeared a special booth of professional career counselors. Xiaoling Yu and Min Lai, the two career counselors, were advising students on spot for their applications. Reporter learned from the scene that counselors generally provided job applicants with personalized suggestions based on the results of such on-site tests as Hollander Vocational Interest, Occupational MBTI Personality Test and Vocational Aptitude Test with reference to their resumes.

 

 

 

Dr. Li of Birmingham University to SCBC for Academic Exchange
 
  Dr. Jiayuan Li of Birmingham University, UK came to SCBC for an academic exchange on the afternoon of November 27th. Dr. Li gave SCBC teachers and students a lecture about the project of "The Well-being of China Nationals and the Happiness Index to the Effect of the Reform in Guangdong". This project, as part of the European Union Marie Curie International Scientific Researchers Exchange Program, aims to bring together a group of researchers to form a research group to explore this topic as a world level study. Pu Ping, a teacher from School of English Language and Culture, SCBC, is a member of the project.
