Japan’s Consul General in GZ Visits SCBC

  On Nov. 1st, ITO koichi, Japan’s consul general in Guangzhou and his wife paid a visit to our school.
 
  President Xu Zhenhua introduced to the guests the school’s history and mission, the student profile, the faculty resources and the specialty setup. Then he focused on the current status of cooperation between the Japanese major of our school and the colleges in Japan.
 
 
  ITO koichi talked about his impression that he had got little knowledge of independent colleges in GZ since he had been contacted mostly by the state schools during his two year stay here. Thus, his visit to our school and observation of the Japanese speaking contest improved his knowledge of the schools of this sort. He also expressed his hope for a broader perception of Chinese independent colleges after this visit.  

 

 

Students Swept Championships in the 1st Japanese Speaking Contest of Independent Colleges in Guangdong Province
 
  On Nov. 1st, 2014, the 1st Japanese Speaking Contest of Independent Colleges in Guangdong Province was held in our school. 25 contestants from 12 independent colleges participated in this contest. Su Ying, a junior student from Japanese Class One, won the first prize for the junior/senior group as well as the Consul General Award, and Xie Xirong, a sophomore from Japanese Class Two, was the first prize winner for the lower grades group in this contest.
 
 
  ITO koichi, Japan’s consul general in GZ, observed the contest and commented in surprise: “Japanese majors at independent colleges are so awesome that their Japanese language proficiency is never second to that of their counterparts in the reputable public universities.” He held that this contest well manifested the competence of Japanese majors in the local independent colleges.
 
 
Visit from Board Member of Digital Hollywood University
  On Oct. 31st, a board member of Digital Hollywood University (Tokyo) visited our school and was received by president Xu and vice president Wang at the VIP Hall.
 
 

 

  President Xu suggested a further cooperation between the two parties. In speaking of the mode of cooperation, he proposed the “3+1+2” BS-MS programs in light of the experiences of cooperating with other foreign universities. The Japanese delegate was highly in favor of the proposal and, in addition, put forward a plan of setting up the “Tokyo office of South China Business College, GDUFS” in Digital Hollywood University premises. According to this project, teachers from SCBC will be sent to work in Tokyo, during which they will study there and undertake such jobs as teaching, student management as well as publicity of SCBC in Japan.

 

 

Visit from Delegates of Dallas Baptist University
 
  On the afternoon of Oct. 31st, Dr. Randy Byer, the executive director of international affairs, the principal director of Dallas Baptist University (DBU) visited our school and was welcome by vice president Mr. Lai in the conference room of the administration building. 
 
 
  Mr. Lai started with an introduction that SCBC had already established cooperative relationship with 60 universities from 14 countries in such modes as short-term exchanges and “2+2” mode. At the meeting, the two parties exchanged their views on curriculum design, course contents and teaching approach for the cooperative “masters of management” program based on “3+1+1” mode. They also discussed on the Chinese students’ eligibility for study in DBU and on the issues of the bilateral course credit accreditation.

 

 

Visit from Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo
 
  On Nov. 4th, Sebastian, vice president of Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, and Luis Hernandez, the delegate of La Universidad Pública de Navarra, paid a visit to our school. The distinguished guests were welcome by vice present Mr. Lai at the VIP Hall. The two parties discussed on several cooperation programs concerning exchanging students and sending students to Spain for master degrees.
 

 

 

Student Won First Prize in "FLTRP Cup" English Writing Contest Guangdong Division
 
  Lu Jianfen and Lu Xin, two students of Business English major from the Department of English Language and Culture have recently won the first prize and third prize respectively in the Guangdong division of the "FLTRP Cup" English writing contest.
 
 
  The competition was fierce among 83 contestants from 42 universities, some of which are reputable schools like Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and Jinan University. The two contestants representing our school earned the high level of achievement by virtue of their logical thinking proficiency, expository and analytical skills and solid foundation of English language.
