English Majors of SCBC Set New Record in TEM84
As the results of 2014 TEM8 (Test for English Majors) had been released recently, SCBC found 50.26% of its English major students pass the test at their first try. This passing rate has set a new record high for TEM8 at SCBC, with 24.18 and 7.5 percentages higher than the national average for independent colleges and state institutions of higher learning respectively.
The First Spanish Micro Movie Festival Held at SCBC
On June 5, the First Spanish Micro Movie Festival was held at Room 401. This wonderful event, planned and organized by Andrea, Antonio and Alvaro, foreign teachers from the Spanish Language Section of European Languages and Cultures Department, was designed for junior students of Spanish language to show their ingenuity and language proficiency through writing, directing and acting. The ten nominated micro movies, with topics ranging from social phenomena to individual dreams and campus life, had told their stories in a humorous and creative fashion, showcasing the students’ aspiration as well as their understanding of life and society. Several awards were presented at the end of the festival, including “Best Actor”, “Best Actress”, “Best Director”, “Best Writer”, and “Best Visual Production”.
Mr. Kévin Pon from the Catholic University of Lyon Visits SCBC
On June 9, Mr. Kévin Pon, director of International Affairs, School of Management of the Catholic University of Lyon, came to visit SCBC and was welcome by Mr. Yang Jianjun, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Division. After an in-depth discussion with Mr. Yang on such issues as student exchange and teacher communication, Mr. Kévin Pon interviewed 9 students of French who applied for the exchange program in his University.
[Liberal Arts Forum] Chu Maoming: What Makes A Diplomat?
The 33rd session of “Liberal Arts Forum” invited Mr. Chu Maoming, Councilor from the Innovation and Practice Committee for Senior Diplomats, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to talk about “What Makes A Diplomat” at Room C201 on June 12. In the talk, Mr. Chu told his audience that there were both good times and bad times in the diplomatic profession. He also explained how to cultivate the qualities of a diplomat and answered questions raised by the audience.
