Zhu Xuewen’s Exchange at Celaya University Applauded
From March 10 to April 11, Mr. Zhu Xuewen from the Department of European Languages and Cultures had exchanged and lectured at Celaya University in Mexico. Several days ago, a letter came from the University to thank SCBC for facilitating Mr. Zhu’s exchange. Mr. Zhu’s professionalism and responsibility were spoken highly of in the letter, and more cooperation and exchange between the two institutions were also expected in the future.
Vice President Lai Zhili Visits University of California, San Diego
Recently, Vice President Lai Zhili paid a visit to the University of California, San Diego and saw the SCBC students studying there during his trip to the U.S. Later, Mr. Lai met with Ms.Gwendolyne Guzman Rose, Manager of External Relations and Partner Development, and discussed the current cooperation and future projects with her. Ms. Joy Selene Frye from the same department introduced the major courses for exchange students in the University.
Dean of Confucius Institute at Sapporo University Visits SCBC
On May 8, Mr. Zhang Weixiong, Dean of Confucius Institute at Sapporo University in Japan gave a lecture entitled “The Trend of National Discourse in Contemporary Japan” to SCBC students of Japanese language at Room F503. In the lecture, he highlighted the contemporary “national discourse”, the current non-mainstream “rational discourse” and the traditional “discourse”. He suggested that students think critically in dealing with Japanese culture.
“The Sound of Spring” Japanese Speaking Competition
The final of “the Sound of Spring” Japanese speaking competition, organized by the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, was held at Room F503 on May 8. Seventeen students made the final after the preliminary competition, showcasing their language proficiency and personal charm on the stage. Chen Yiqi, a sophomore majoring in Japanese language, finally won the competition.
“The Charming Voice” English Movie Dubbing Contest
The final of the 6th “Charming Voice” English Movie Dubbing Contest, organized by the Department of English Language and Culture, was held at Room C302 on May 8. The finalists had to compete in the prepared and the impromptu sessions, in which they dubbed movie clips of 2-3 minutes. Finally, the team “Doctors” championed in the competition, with their fantastic performance winning the hearts of the judges and the 50 audience members as well as the favor of internet voters.
