Vice President Lai Zhili Visits University of California, Los Angeles

 

     Several days ago, Vice President Lai Zhili paid a visit to the University of California, Los Angeles at the invitation of his counterpart of UCLA. During his visit, Mr. Lai met with Prof. Van Anderson, Director of Corporate Education & Custom Programs at UCLA Extension and they both gave introductions to their respective institutions. The Director, who was excited about the exchange and cooperation with SCBC, presented in detail the credential programs and custom-designed programs. Finally, the two sides reached a preliminary agreement with regard to the cooperation and exchange in the two programs.

 

 

 

Japanese, Korean & Arabic Dubbing Contest

 

     The final of the 5th Japanese, Korean and Arabic dubbing contest (My voice, my movie) was held by the Department of Asian Languages and Culture lately at Room G104. After the preliminary competition, 16 teams made the final, of which “Oriental Animate Genius M1”, “The Master’s Sun”, and “Go, Father! Where?” won the first prize respectively for Japanese, Korean and Arabic languages. The competition attracted the international students from South Korea. Impressed by the performance of the contestants, they said they were more motivated to study Chinese harder so that they could also enjoy the fun of dubbing a Chinese film themselves.

 

 


The 7th SCBC Cup College English Speaking Competition

 

     The final of the 7th SCBC Cup college English speaking contest organized by the Department of College English, was held at Room G107 on May 8. The competition invited 13 teachers to form a judge panel and foreign teachers to challenge the contestants in the Q&A session. Chen Hong, a sophomore majoring in International Trade and Economics, championed in the competition. At the end of the contest, Faith commented on the speakers’ performance.
