Vice President of Saint Mary’s University Visits SCBC
On March 28, Dr. David Gauthier, Vice President of Saint Mary’s University in Canada, paid a second visit to SCBC. He felt happy that the SCBC students studying at Saint Mary’s University were doing great there. In the future, he expected more exchange students as well as exchange teachers from SCBC. In the meeting, the two sides discussed and reached preliminary agreement on the details of teacher communication and student exchange projects.
Dr. Yang Ying from Tamkang University in Taiwan Visits SCBC
Dr. Yang Ying, Chairman of Graduate Institute of Educational Policy and Leadership,Tamkang University, and Secretary-General of Taiwan Higher Education Society, headed a group of teachers and students to visit SCBC on March 31. Vice President Lai Zhili introduced to the guests many aspects of Mainland’s higher educational system, including the Gaokao (National Entrance Exams for Colleges and Universities), the history of independent colleges, and the development and characteristics of SCBC.Later, the two sides also explored and exchanged ideas on the major of social service and security.
Representatives from Sydney University of Technology Visit SCBC
On April 3, Sophie Liu, International Pathways Officer of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and Ricky Niu, Senior Manager of the University’s China Office, paid a visit to SCBC. The two sides shared ideas on the current cooperation projects, teacher exchange, and cooperation in business majors. At present, SCBC and UTS have agreed to cooperate in offering two business majors (International Accounting and International Business). Under this agreement, students at SCBC’s International Class can transfer to UTS to study for another two years after they have completed the articulated courses at SCBC. They will be awarded academic degrees from both institutions if they meet the requirements upon completion of studies at UTS.
Prof. Qin Mingwu Visits Consulate-General of Japan in GZ
On April 4, Prof. Qin Mingwu, head of the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, led a delegation to visit the Consulate-General of Japan in Guangzhou and was warmly welcomed by Consul-General Mr. Ito Koichi and Vice Consul Ms. Shima Minako. Prof. Qin introduced SCBC to the Consul-General and extended great gratitude with a letter of thanks to him for his support for SCBC’s Japanese language education. Mr. Ito Koichi spoke highly of SCBC’s achievements in recent years and expressed the hope of building stronger ties and more cooperations with SCBC in the future.
