Professor from Chosun University: Lectures on Korean Traditional Culture
Several days ago, Professor Baeg Su In from Chosun University in South Korea gave a lecture on Korean traditional Culture in Korean Language, with Ms. Huang Lingyan, a SCBC teacher of the Korean Language Teaching & Research Section, Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, as his interpreter. The professor introduced to the students many aspects of Korean culture, including religion, language, clothing, foods, housing, etc.
Representatives from Aichi Sangyo University Visit SCBC
On the afternoon of December 20, Mr. Osamu Yoshida, section chief of Business Administration of Aichi Sangyo University in Japan, Mr. Higashi Hiromi, director of International Students Center, and Wang Ping, a teacher of Business Administration from the University, came to visit SCBC. The two sides reached a preliminary agreement on cooperation.
SCBC Students: Champion of Provincial English Interpreting Contest
On December 21, Wu Hang, Zhu Jing, and Wang Jian, students from SCBC’s Department of English Language and Culture, out-shone all the other competing teams in the Session for independent colleges/higher vocational colleges and claimed the title of champion of the Session at the 5th “Lan Ge Cup” Guangdong Provincial English Interpreting Contest held in Guangzhou. The topics involved in the competition were quite challenging, like Confucius College, copy-cat phenomenon, and corporate development; yet the three interpreters performed outstandingly in the competition, showcasing their solid bilingual knowledge, calm and graceful manners, as well as their interpreting skills both in English to Chinese and Chinese to English interpretations.
Foreign Teachers Attend Symphonic Concert
Arranged by the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, SCBC’s foreign teachers and their coordinators went to Guangzhou Opera House on December 24 for a live symphonic performance of the music from BBC and Discovery channel's award-winning documentary series The Blue Planet. The foreign teachers, intoxicated by more than 10 world -famous melodies performed by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, were also fascinated by the amazing visual effects of rapidly changing views of oceans at the theater.
SCBC’s 2014 Recreational Party for Faculty and Staff
On December 26, SCBC threw a recreational party for all the faculty and staff at the Business Plaza. On the afternoon that day, there were recreational games, such as darts, basketball shooting, and funny golfing. For the gala evening, the teachers and staff of SCBC specially prepared interesting programs for the party, showing their own originality and ingenuity on the stage to win over the heart of the audience. Moreover, over 200 teachers and staff members were lucky dogs and won prizes for the eighth to the top winners in the lottery drew at intervals through out the show.
