The 5th Spanish Pronunciation & Intonation Contest Held at SCBC


     On November 15, the 5th Spanish Pronunciation & Intonation Contest was held by the Department of European Languages and Cultures at SCBC. In the competition, the contestants were required to read aloud sentences and give impromptu presentation, so as to showcase respectively the results of their efforts in Spanish pronunciation in this semester and their skills in language use and creative thinking. Chen Yinyu from Grade 2013 Spanish International Class won the champion of the competition.
   


   
SCBC Student Wins Third Prize in Korean Speaking Competition 


     On November 15, Huang Jieping and Huang Kaixin, two Grade 2010 students of SCBC Korean Language major from the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures participated in the National Korean Speaking Competition for College Students of the 7th Yue Xiu-Dae Jin Korean Cultural Festival, in which Huang Jieping won a third prize thanks to her excellent performance. This competition is co-organized by Zhejiang Yuexiu College of Foreign Languages and Dae Jin University in South Korea.
   

 


SCBC Student Wins Third Prize in “Kumho Asiana” Korean Speaking Contest (the South China Final)

 

     On November 16, the South-China final of the 8th “Kumho Asiana” Korean Speaking Contest for Chinese College Students was held in Guangzhou. Cai Yingsi, a SCBC student of Korean language major, won a third prize in the competition and a ticket to the national final to be held in Xi’an city on December 7.
   

   

 


Award of Excellence won at GDUFS’s “Casio Cup” Japanese Speaking Contest

 

     On November 17, the 9th “Casio Cup” Japanese Speaking Contest of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies was held at the Yunshan Hall. Li Chunbing and Tan Jianyao, two SCBC students of Grade 2011 from the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, took part in the competition and both received Awards of Excellence respectively for non-beginners and beginners.
 

  
   
SCBC Students’ Breakthrough Success at National Interpreting Contest (Guangdong & Hainan Provincial Final)

 

     On November 17, as the Guangdong & Hainan Provincial Final of the 3rd National Interpreting Contest concluded, Wang Jian, Wu Hang, and Zhu Jing from the Department of English Language and Culture emerged with breakthrough success, all as winners respectively of the First Runner-up, the Second Runner-up, and the Award of Excellence. Particularly, Wang Jian had earned himself a ticket to the South China Final to be held in December, thanks to his outstanding performance. The award-winning students were selected from the English Interpreting Training Camp, established this semester by the Department of English Language and Culture to cultivate excellent English interpreters. The applicants have to go through several rounds of elimination at intervals of training so as to qualify as the final candidates in the Training Camp.
 

   

 


SCBC Exchange Students in South Korea Granted Korean National Scholarship

 

     Recently, good news has arrived at SCBC that two SCBC exchange students from Grade 2011 of Korean language major, Lu Huiping and Xia Wan, who are now studying at the Seoul Campus of Sangmyung University in South Korea, have been awarded “Scholarship for Outstanding Exchange Students” thanks to heir excellent grades and comprehensive performance. Granted to exchange students by the Korean National Institute of International Education, the scholarship will be paid monthly for consecutive three months with a total amount equivalent to about RMB 12,000 yuan.

   
   
SCBC Collaborates College Student Practice Base with Korean-invested Enterprise

 

     Recently, the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures has concluded an agreement with World Technology Co., Ltd. at SCBC. According to the agreement, the World Technology provides a practical platform and internship opportunities for SCBC students of Korean language major who will practice and work under the guidance of SCBC teachers. World Technology Co., Ltd. is a Korean-owned enterprise established in August 2006, with its headquarters in South Korea.
   

   

 


SCBC Students Win Second Prize in the 6th National Network Business Innovation Competition


     Recently, the team “E Shines Nanguo” from SCBC won a national second prize in the final of the 6th National Network Business Innovation Competition co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, and the China Internet Association in Beijing. The team’s instructor, Mr. Zheng Jianhui, was honored as “National Outstanding Coach Teacher” and SCBC as “Excellent College” for encouraging student participation in the Competition.
