English-only Talk Series Launched at SCBC
 
On March 27, Kevin Chen, a foreign teacher of SCBC, was invited to deliver a talk entitled “Drinking Culture” at Room G101, when this semester’s English-only Talk Series was launched by the Department of College English. In the speech, Mr. Chen not only spoke about the differences of drinking cultures between China and the West, but also shared his overseas experiences and anecdotes about wine culture with the audience.
 
 
 
Foreign Students Speak on “Chinese Dream” at Mandarin Speaking Competition
 
On March 28, organized by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the preliminary round of Mandarin Speaking Competition was held at Room F101. Five foreign students from Japan, South Korea and France expressed to the audience their own understanding of “Chinese Dream” in their speeches of various topics. Finally, Nakagawa and Takigawa from Japan, who scored 7.43 and 7.20 respectively, stood out from the group and secured themselves in the final contest.
 
 

 

 
Liang Present at Peace through Commerce Medal Award Ceremony
 
Invited by the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, Mr. Liang Xiaoqi, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, attended the award ceremony for the presentation of “Peace through Commerce Medal” held at Guangzhou China Hotel on April 1. On the occasion, Mr. Francisco Sánchez, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade in America, presented Harley Seyedin, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, with the “Peace through Commerce Medal”, where more than 500 local diplomats, dignitaries and business leaders were present.
