Executive Director from Spanish Chamber of Commerce Visits SCBC
On March 26, Ms. Sonia Aparicio Salcedo, executive director at the South Division of Spanish Chamber of Commerce in China, paid her first visit to SCBC. At the meeting, the executive director presented an introduction to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and expressed the willingness to assist SCBC students in their attempts to work or seek internship in Spain or Spanish enterprises in China. The two sides also discussed several issues with regard to building cooperation and partnership in the future.
President of Bellevue University in America Visits SCBC
On March 27, Dr. Mary Hawkins, president of Bellevue University in the US, led a delegation to visit SCBC and was warmly welcome by Dr. Xu Zhenhua, president of SCBC, and Mr. Lai Zhili, vice president of SCBC. According to Dr. Hawkins, international students at Bellevue University are usually accommodated at local American homes and encouraged to participate abundantly in the community, which enables them to better understand American culture and adapt into the local lifestyle. Moreover, with broad connections with prestigious enterprises, Bellevue University provides the graduates with more opportunities for employment and future development. Since 2010, SCBC has selected 24 outstanding students to exchange at Bellevue University, and 10 of them are still studying there.
Appreciate Calligraphy and Painting Works in Library
Recently, SCBC management decided to donate to the Library a collection of calligraphy ad painting works that SCBC has received as tokens or gifts from counterparts, eminent scholars and prestigious professors since its establishment. This collection, including 46 works of calligraphy, 22 Chinese paintings, 2 oil paintings and 14 African turf paintings, will help enhance the cultural atmosphere of the campus. If readers need a break or want to appreciate arts, they can find those artworks displayed on the walls of the library’s Reading Room, Reader’s Study Room, Stack Room, Offices, corridors and staircases.
