Library: “Special Librarian” at Your Service

 
     In the new semester, the Library will enrich its services by inviting teachers of various academic fields to serve in the library when their time is available. These “special librarians” will provide tutoring services in reading original foreign-language books and learning academic subjects. The first “special librarian”, Mr. Raúl Joel Cortez Vejar, a foreign teacher from Chile, will work at the library during 2:00-5:00 pm on Monday, 2:00-3:45 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday, when students can find him at the Recreation Area on the second floor if they need tutoring in English and Spanish listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
 
 
 
SCBC Students of Arabic Language Study in Egypt
 
     On February 13, three students of Arabic language from Grade 2010 boarded the flight to Cairo for a one-year study at Tanta University in Egypt. This is the first time when SCBC has sent students to Egypt, and more importantly, to the Arabic world. Among the three students, two extraordinarily outstanding ones received full funding from SCBC’s Study-Abroad Foundation, which was set up to help students complete their studies abroad.
 
 
SCBC Students Attend Social Welfare Forum for College Students in Japan
 
     Yang Xiaoyan and Deng Xiaojun, students from the Department of Asian Languages and Culture, were chosen to attend “Social Welfare Forum for College Students from China, Japan and South Korea” held in Japan in mid-February, the first time ever for SCBC students to be present in academic activities prepared by overseas tertiary institutions. Organized by Nagasaki Wesleyan University, this forum provides an opportunity for outstanding students from universities in China, Japan and South Korea to discuss the social welfare systems and cultures of different countries through lectures, field trips and researches.
