Scholarship Awarding Ceremony for 2011-2012 School Year
On December 20, the scholarship awarding ceremony for 2011-2012 school year was held at Room C201 where seven awards and scholarships were granted to students and classes. Specifically, 22 classes were rated as “Class of Excellent Learning Atmosphere” and 32 classes as “Class of Outstanding General Performance”. In terms of scholarships, 7 students were awarded “National Scholarship”, 185 students “National Scholarship for Encouragement”. Meanwhile, 1192 students won “SCBC Scholarship for Excellent Performance”, 14 students “SCBC Scholarship for Freshman”, and 10 students were honored as “Model of Learning in SCBC”. For this academic year, 2160 students in total have been bestowed titles of honors.
College English Test Band 4 & 6 (CET 4 & 6) Completed at SCBC
On December 22, College English Test (CET 4 & 6) was held at SCBC. CET is a nation-wide English test for non-English major students and held twice a year, in June and December respectively. For this time, SCBC had recruited 228 person/time as proctors to invigilate the examination in which 4238 examinees (2269 for CET 4 and 2014 for CET 6) were sitting at the114 standard examination rooms (76 for CET 4 and 68 for CET 6).
Second Phase of Digital Campus Project Completed
Recently, the acceptance meeting for the second phase of digital campus project was held at Room 309 of the Administrative Building. It is reported that the digital campus project, initiated in 2010, is divided into three phases. After the completion of a network platform in the first phase, the work for the second phase includes 5 operational systems of managerial functions, such as laboratory management, charging management, alumni management, student dormitory management, and graduate departure procedures.
First Group of Students Completed “Golf Course Taught in Japanese”
After twelve weeks of learning and practice, the first group of 43 students has completed the innovative practice course, “Golf Course Taught in Japanese” that is offered by the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures. This course, designed for Grade 2009 Students of Japanese language, is divided into theoretical and practical sections, which combines business negotiation skills with professional knowledge in the learning process. The teaching materials for the course, “A Golf Course in Japanese and Chinese Languages”, have been compiled by the course teachers who use Japanese as the working language in the lessons.
A Fabulous Gala Evening to Usher In the New Year
On December 27, the gala evening for the coming New Year’s Day of 2013 with the theme of “The new year comes along the beats of songs in spring breezes”, was held at the Business Plaza of SCBC. The evening showcased the increasingly beautiful campus through four chapters of programs arranged by the change of seasons of “summer, autumn, winter and spring”. The appearance of foreign teachers on the stage brought the evening to the most exciting moment. After a beautifully-sung “I will always love you” by Mirtle, a foreign teacher from South Africa, all the foreign teachers came up to the stage and danced joyfully to the beats of music and the applauses from the audiences.
