SCBC Representatives Invited to “People 2012 Marie Curie Conference”
 
On November 5, Dr. Ma Zaoming, a board member of SCBC, and Mr. Liang Xiaoqi, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, were invited to attend the international conference of PEOPLE 2012 “Marie Curie Actions in Horizon 2020: Contributing to the Europe 2020 Objectives” held in the Republic of Cyprus. This event, under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, aims to promote the communication and exchange of international research talents and attract more well-trained researchers and scholars of great potentials and interdisciplinary backgrounds to Europe. Over 250 researchers, scholars, entrepreneurs and government officials from more than 30 countries and regions participated in the forum, including Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Luxemburg, Norway, Denmark, Czech, China, Russia, Japan, America, Israel, etc.   
 
 
 
 
SCBC Teacher Visits Two Universities in Spain
 
Recently, Mr. Yang Jianjun, vice dean of the Department of European Languages and Cultures has visited SCBC’s two cooperative counterparts in Spain, the University of Alcalá and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Yang discussed with the chief of international affairs from the two universities respectively quite a few issues related to mutual cooperation and reached a certain consensus, such as mutual-exchange student projects, sharing pedagogical resources, and designing to bridge courses between B.A.and M.A.programs. He also paid a visit to the SCBC teachers and students who are now pursuing their studies in the University of Alcalá.
 
  
  
 
Mr. Liang Xiaoqi Invited to Sino-Canada Education Exchange Meeting
 
Several days ago, Mr. Liang Xiaoqi, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, attended the Sino-Canada education exchange meeting upon the invitation of the Canadian Consulate General in Guangzhou. The event provided an opportunity for the participants to have a face-to-face communication about universities and educational organizations in the two countries. In the meeting, Mr. Liang introduced to the Consul General the cooperation and exchanges of SCBC with foreign counterparts and expressed the hope of establishing cooperation with institutions of higher learning in Canada.
 
  
 
 
A Delegation from Sangmyung University in South Korea Visits SCBC
 
On November 21, Mr. Joa Sang Lim, director of the International Exchange Division of Sangmyung University in South Korea, led a delegation to visit SCBC. In the meeting, the two parties explored the related issues of “1+4” projects, particularly the teaching of Korean language in combination with other specialties so as to increase students’ competitive edge in the employment market. Both sides agreed to build up a long-term cooperative partnership in the future.
 
  
 
 
Teachers with Overseas Experiences Brainstorm about Teaching
 
On November 22, a tea party for teachers with overseas experiences was held in Room 309 of the Administrative Building, where the teachers present shared their insights on teaching. The teachers spoke affirmatively of SCBC’s international oriented education and the campus atmosphere thus created. Meanwhile, according to their overseas study experiences, they pointed out the existing problems and brought forward many meaningful proposals with regard to syllabuses designs, students evaluation of teaching, and teaching management. At present, there are more than 30 teachers in SCBC who have undertaken degree programs or courses studies in foreign countries like Britain, U.S., France, Australia, Japan, Korea, and Spain.
