Mr. Qi Jianguo Talks about US Global Strategy and South China Sea Dispute
 
On November 8, Mr. Qi Jianguo, the former Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, presented a lecture entitled “The Eastward Shift of the U.S. Global Strategy and the South China Sea Dispute” for the 26th section of “Liberal Arts Forum” held at the Academic Hall. In his speech, Qi explained to the students present the characteristics of American shift of strategy, China’s response to the change, and the coping tactics to the South China Sea dispute under the new international circumstances. .
 
 
 
A Delegation from Silla University in South Korea Visits SCBC
 
On November 6, a delegation from Silla University in South Korea, headed by Mr. Oh Kitu, director of China Section of External Affairs and Development Division, visited SCBC. Vice President Lai Zhili welcomed the guests and introduced to them the exchange student programs between SCBC and the universities in South Korea. The two sides expressed the hope of establishing mutual-exchange partnership and discussed some specific issues of future cooperation.
 
 
 
Foreign Students Chinese Speaking Activity in SCBC
 
On the afternoon of October 31, a Chinese speaking activity for foreign students was held by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.in SCBC. 14 students from Japan and South Korea made speeches in Chinese on the topic of “Who Am I ?”, the first time ever in their lives. This activity is one of a whole series of “Experiencing Chinese Culture after Class” activities designed by the Department to help foreign students better understand Chinese culture. Other activities for foreign students include experiencing China’s cinema, calligraphy, paper-cutting, family life and the unique cultural varieties such as Lingnan culture, cuisine culture and tea culture.
