SCBC’s Representatives Visit New Consul General of Spain Consulate General
 
On October 23, a delegation of SCBC, led by Liang Xiaoqi, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, visited Spain Consulate General in Guangzhou to meet the new Consul General Jesús Atienza Serna.
 
 
The Consul General gave a warm welcome to the delegation. Due to the fact that the Spanish government is pushing on the global promotion of Spanish education to attract more international students, the Consul General hoped that SCBC would send more students to study in Spain.
 
 
Alcala University Representatives Talk about Spanish Culture with Students
 
On October 23, Rafael Martin Rodriguez, chief of the Asian Affairs Office of Alcala University in Spain, headed a delegation to visit SCBC. In the meeting, the two parties discussed the possibilities of further cooperation and exchange for students and teachers. Afterwards, Mr. Rodriguez presented a lecture entitled “Spanish Culture” to the students.
 
 
 
SCBC Teacher Inspects Overseas Intern Projects in Japan
 
Recently, Lu Shaoyong, deputy secretary of the CPC General Branch in English Language and Culture Department has taken a close look at SCBC students’ exercitation in Japan during his inspection journey to the island country. The supervisor of the Japanese company spoke highly of SCBC students’ performances in the work, particularly their professionalism and adaptability in the practice. Meanwhile, the students found that the exercitation in Japan had helped them improve their Japanese, international vision and all-rounded qualities. The intern project in Japan is one of the many overseas work and travel programs in SCBC designed for students with basic Japanese skills. Now over 30 SCBC students have participated in the project.
 
 
 
 
SCBC Student Wins Provincial Top Award in
“FLTRP Cup” National English Speaking Contest
 
On October 28, Zhu Jing, a student from Grade 2011 of the English Language and Culture Department, won the provincial Top Award with her remarkable performance in the 2012 “FLTRP Cup” National English Speaking Contest & Guangdong English Speaking Contest held in Guangzhou.
 
 
Twelve contestants were competing for the Top Award in the final round of the competition. Zhu Jing, together with the two students from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and South China Normal University respectively, won out over other competitors and made herself a candidate of the National Final which is to be held in Beijing in December.
