Successful Parade Held to Conclude 2012 Freshmen Military Training
On September 21, the parade for 2012 freshmen military training with awarding ceremony was held at the track and field stadium of SCBC. During the parade, the freshmen displayed proudly the achievements of the 13-day training with innovative and splendid performances, including array phalanx, arresting boxing, female defense, gymnastic exercises, and first aids techniques. Moreover, awards were bestowed to some classes and individuals who had performed outstandingly during the military training.
Pu Ping Awarded Honorary Title “Guangdong Provincial Excellent Teachers in Private Education”
On September 22, the awarding ceremony of “Guangdong Provincial Excellent Teachers in Private Education” with an entertainment show for the “Teachers’ Day” was held at Yunshan Hall of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, where Pu Ping, a teacher from the Department of English Language and Culture of SCBC and other 137 teachers working in private education were awarded the said honorary title. Pu Ping, who won the title of “The Best Ten Teachers of SCBC” in 2011, has been commended as one of “Excellent Teachers of the Year” several times.
SCBC Cheerleading Squad Wins National Champions for the First Time
On September 23, SCBC cheerleading squad won two champions in the 2012 National Cheerleading League Competition & Cheerleading Star Competition (Guangzhou) held at the Gymnasium of Guangzhou University, one for flower ball dance for college group (Level 3) and the other for cheerleading acrobatic(mixed quintuple).It was the first time ever that the squad triumphed in national championship, as they beat competitors from other higher-learning institutions in the province, such as Guangzhou Sports College, Sun Yet-Sun University, etc.
SCBC Student Team Wins Second Prize in the National Network Business Innovation Competition
Recently, the team “Mobile QR Code” from SCBC had won a national second prize in the Fifth National Network Business Innovation Competition held in Beijing. The competition had attracted 150000 student participants of more than 4000 teams from over 2200 institutions of higher education in China. Among the twelve teams from SCBC, nine had succeeded in making the second round in the competition, and the teams “Mobile QR Code” and “E Flowers” were awarded the third prize in the Guangdong & Guangxi provincial competition zone.
Grade-2010 English Majors Create New Record in TEM4
The result of TEM4, a national test for English majors, has been released recently that 62.69% of SCBC’s Grade-2010 English major students have passed the test at their first try. This passing rate has set a new record high for TEM4 in SCBC, with 26.92 and 11.6 percentages higher than that of independent college average and regular higher-learning institution average respectively.
Tea Party Held for Foreign Teachers to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival
On September 27, SCBC held a tea party for foreign teachers to celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival in Room 309 of the Administrative Building. On behalf of SCBC, Vice President Lai Zhili extended sincere wishes to all the foreign teachers for the festival.The foreign teachers enjoyed a very pleasant time as they shared opinions and understanding of this traditional holiday in China.
Delegation from NHL University in Holland Visits SCBC
On the morning of September 27, Tom, director of the international exchange projects of NHL University in Holland, headed a delegation to visit SCBC. After the in-depth discussion of student exchange programs with SCBC representatives, Tom introduced the situation and the working model of exchange projects in NHL University. Later, the delegation looked around the campus and the oversea student dormitories.
