15 Students Receive Grants from “Guangdong Lions Clubs Chi Hong Stipend”


     On the afternoon of September 14, an awarding ceremony was held for the 2012 Guangdong Lions Clubs Chi Hong Stipend, from which 15 SCBC students were granted a total of RMB30,000 Yuan financial aids, or RMB2000 Yuan for each for the coming academic year. The aid recipients, outstanding in academic and moral performances, are also required to finish 50 hours of voluntary services in the corresponding academic year.

 
 
 
SCBC’s Sixth Cultural Festival Kicks Off with the Fantastic Welcoming Show
 
     On the evening of September 20, the opening ceremony for the Sixth Cultural Festival with the welcoming show for new students was held at the Business Plaza. All the freshmen enjoyed this fantastic evening and cheered up for their new journey of study in SCBC.
 
 
 
Delegation from Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain Visits SCBC
 
     On September 20, a delegation from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, headed by the director of the Study Abroad Program Santiago Alias, paid a visit to SCBC. Vice-president Lai Zhili held a meeting with the Spanish guests in Room 309 of the Administrative Building and exchanged ideas on the short-term study programs.
 
 
     Director Huang Hancheng of the International Education Division gave Santiago Alias an introduction to SCBC and the international exchange activities of Spanish major of the Department of Western Languages and Cultures. Mr. Huang told Mr. Alias that SCBC has always attached great importance to the cooperation with overseas higher institutions and encouraged students to expand their horizons from foreign countries. Now with five Spanish universities in cooperation partnership with SCBC, he expressed the hope to establish connections with the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain.
 
 
Representatives from SCBC Visit British Consulate General in Guangzhou
     
     A few days ago, Professor Zhang Hengzhen, dean of the Department of College English, and Mr. Liang Xiaoqi, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, headed a delegation to visit the British Consulate General in Guangzhou and meet Consul-General Alastair Morgan.
 
 
     Mr. Morgan welcomed the representatives from SCBC. He said that the Sino-British exchange and corporation in education have always been a focus of work for the British Consulate General , and independent colleges, as an important part of China’s higher education, should deserve the same attention and supports. He also believed that the students in SCBC should be encouraged to seek further studies in the UK and appreciate the unique British culture.
